Clean & Simple

This Devonport villa was re-imagined by Macfie Architecture and built by Your Builder. Working with the architect, Chroma Interiors designed the kitchen, scullery, two bathrooms and bedrooms.

Working and liaising remotely from Korea, the clients wanted to create a home for themselves in New Zealand. They were looking to integrate the simplicity of materials and colours used in the wife’s home country. Clean white tones and light oak were used in the kitchen and bathrooms to create a neutral palette. Black tapware added a pop of contrast. The daughter’s bathroom tile was a terrazzo, which added some colour and fun to an otherwise neutral bathroom.

The client arrived in New Zealand when the project was nearly complete, helping with the final design and finishing decisions.

“We asked Margaux to help us with the interior design of our villa renovation. From the start to the end of the project (about a year) Margaux was the consistent force keeping things moving along, she essentially went above and beyond and became the Project Manager for the entire build, especially while we were overseas.

Margaux really made the difference when trying to figure out everything from the big layout problems to the small details.

Her design sense and her communication skills really are top of the game, and there were countless "leave it to me" moments that kept us sane.

Margaux is a genuinely lovely person, she's smart and helpful, she's a great designer, and she knows how to get things done.

We would call Margaux first if we ever wanted to build or renovate again.”
