Home Hub

This project is a complete renovation of a 1950s weatherboard and tile house in Narrow Neck, Auckland. The renovation included rear and side extensions across two storeys. The kitchen was out of date and falling apart, which meant that the position and layout of the kitchen needed to be fully reconsidered.

I was brought in to re-design the kitchen, create a more effective space plan, detail all construction drawings, select finishes, and project manage the installation.

This project also led to the design of a new scullery and the renovation of the home’s three bathrooms and laundry.

The materials I chose were selected to provide a high quality of finishes within a mid-range budget and to be hard-wearing to withstand busy family life. Monochromatic tones were used to achieve a ‘sensory relaxing’ interior colour scheme throughout the house.

“Margaux has been helping us design and implement our dream home for over a year now. We can’t recommend her skills and experience enough! Margaux has designed us a beautiful new kitchen, scullery and laundry.

We commissioned her before we submitted our plans for building consent, which proved vital as we were able to make important changes to our architect’s plans, which could have been very disappointing further down the track.

Margaux has also designed our three bathrooms, helping us select the tiles, fixtures and fittings to fit our aesthetic and the spaces, some of which were very challenging. She has excellent style, functionality and drafting skills, along with hand-picked samples and visits to showrooms. It helps bring the space to life in your head (which can sometimes be difficult to imagine off a plan).

Margaux has excellent craft people and tradies that she works with, who have all proved to be very customer focused, dedicated and reliable. She asks all the questions you didn’t even know needed to be asked!

Most importantly, she is very enjoyable to work with, has great project management skills and is passionate about what she does. Margaux’s contributions to the project totally exceeded our expectations. We are already planning our next project with her - the office and library!”
